Excellence at its best December 12, 2003 Jaelus (Clifton, Virginia USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is an excellent port of Sim City 2000 from the PC. City management fun at its best. If your squares are blue and green maybe your game is paused because you can build in pause mode (very useful at the beginning). Either that or you have no electricity in your zones and nobody wants to build there. If you've played Sim City on the SNES this is so much better in terms of graphics and building options. Really for the price you cannot beat it. This is a lot of fun to play on a commute and you can save whenever you want. If you've played Sim City expect more of the same city management fun you've grown to love. Very enjoyable and excellent value.
Exactly what I expected. Great Portable Fun. December 27, 2003 Maria S. (Glen Burnie, MD United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This game is exactly what I would expect from a game titled Sim City 2000 -- especially when on such a small console as GameBoy Advance. The graphics and gameplay are very much like the original PC version of Sim City 2000. Even some of the game flaws are the same (with it not letting you build where a power line is already -- instead you have to do power lines last. This inconvenience was corrected in later PC versions). As others stated, if you only have green or blue squares -- it is not the game -- it is YOU not reading the directions and/or playing correctly. Power may not be hooked up... it may still be on pause... etc. This game is exactly what I hoped it would be. And exactly what I would expect from a game console I can put in my pocket. If you want more graphics and power -- you shouldn't be using a GameBoy Advance (which is, basically, a teeny Super Nintendo).
Not as good as I had hoped January 14, 2004 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
As a big fan of the PC (and event Super Nintendo version), I was so excited to get this game. But, it turns out that it wasn't worth the money. The parred down controls make it very boring after awhile - no subways or waterpipes to put in. They are missing a lot of the little detail such as the cars, etc. And, it's very complicated to lay streets and stuff in the direction you want or to scroll around to see your city. Don't bother with this one.

Little hard to follow because of the screen size. Had to keep moving back and forth on the size.
Stick with the PC versions... December 3, 2004 Smithy1185 (San Diego, CA USA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
When I first heard about Sim City 2000 on the GBA, I thought dang that should be pretty sweet. Then I realized that in actuality, the game would probably be pretty lousy due to the small screen and limits of the GBA. Still I decided to pick up a copy anyways but it wasn't worth the $20. As some have said, yes the game can be fun for a short period of time but then you'll most likely never get the urge to play it again. Doing some simple tasks in the game proves to be a bigger chore than in other versions and the cities you create feel empty and lifeless. However, if you've got lots of time on your hands and don't mind some of the neater additions of the pc versions missing along with some slowdown when disasters occur, then you will probably enjoy this game.
