5 out of 5 stars Great product for first time headset user   May 15, 2007

This is the first BT headset I have owned and I am completely satisfied with this product. I had tried the "in-the-ear" headsets and never purchased one due to the uncomfortable fit and muffling of environmental sound when not using the headset. The fit of this hs takes a little getting used to because it never really feels "seated." But once you get used to the fact that it sits *on* the ear rather than *in* it, you'll love being able to talk and listen to the radio without taking it out. Very comfortable, but I only use it a couple of hours at a time.

Quality seems very good, but the comments about the creaky buttons are accurate, but this is a very minor issue. Call quality is good incoming and outgoing. Only once or twice has anyone guessed I was on a headset. Volume is good, and this was the main reason I wanted a headset; the volume on my SE W810i was not quite loud enough when driving. Maybe it's because I am using the same brand for phone and headset, but I have never had a problem connecting or setting up the hs.

Range seems pretty good, but I don't have a basis for comparison. I get good reception 30-50 feet from the handset in the open, and 15-20 feet through walls.

All in all, a great headset at a great price. Highly recommended.

2 out of 5 stars Craptastic Lanyard   May 15, 2007

I won't get into whether or not it works on a technical level or not, as I haven't had this for more than a day. But it's an awful lanyard design, if you're the type that doesn't feel like wearing it in your ear all day. really no way to clip this to something, instead you've got to have a 3" string hanging from it that then has a loop on it, so you look like you're wearing some kind of idiot pirate earring or something. And that ring and the necklace that ship with the earpiece are such that you can't quickly or easily detach the headset from said necklace.

Anybody want to buy a new (packaging opened but device not used for more than 5 minutes) HBH-PV705 cheap?

4 out of 5 stars Good Earpiece, but has drawbacks   November 6, 2006

The Sony Ericsson Bluetooth HBH-PV705 Headset is a good earpiece for the value.
Positives: Light, comfortable, and has great talk time (battery life).

Negatives: Short range from phone, weak voice recognition, and can echo speech to the other party on occasion.

4 out of 5 stars Nice headset   February 25, 2007

The fit takes some adjusting and getting used to. But once you swivel the ear loop to your ear sizing, then it sits ok - not as snug as other headsets, but light and comfortable.
The battery is the best part of this set - all headset descriptions seem to exagerate battery life, and this one is no exception. So given it claims 12 hour talk time, I'd have settled for half that, compared to just barely two hours on other sets. This one lasts two good days with talking several hours each day. Simple to use. I like it.

5 out of 5 stars Solid headset, good value   July 28, 2007

If you've been reviewing Bluetooth headsets, you've probably heard it all. They don't fit your ear, they echo, callers can't undertand you, the battery dies too quickly... I purchased this item about a month ago, and haven't found any of these complaints to hold true for this headset.

I've charged it once, and haven't had to re-charge it yet. Sure, I've only made 5 or 6 short calls on it, but it's turned on for at least an hour a day during my commute.

My wife could tell that I was calling from my car, but she didn't notice a difference between normal road noise and the Bluetooth reception.

The headset fits my ear comfortably. You probably have already read that this set doesn't insert into your ear canal, but rather rests against it. I found this to be comfortable, and without any side-effects. It's even comfortable when wearing sunglasses.

I've never heard and echo, nor received complaints of others hearing one.

Many reviewers of this and other models seem to dislike the multi-function button. Well, it's a single button, and it's used to perform multiple functions. Sometimes you press it for a few seconds, sometimes you just tap it. I primarily use it for 'on' and 'off'. 'On' takes about 2 seconds, and 'off' takes about 5 or 6 seconds (although I have to admit, it seems to take just a bit longer than I'd prefer...) to turn off. I'm not sure why some would complain about this feature, as most phones have one...

I'm not sure what all the fuss is from other reviewers (more often on other brands...), but this headset seems perfect to me.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
