5 out of 5 stars This phone is the Best!   June 8, 2008

I absolutely love this phone. It replaced three Samsung Sync's--all of which kept dropping calls. I rarely have a dropped call with the LG Shine. It is a great looking phone. I love the slide feature. I am technically challenged, and am finding it relatively easy to figure out how to program the phone. I am able to hear very well over the phone. The main reason I want a phone is to talk. I can't comment on text messaging or other things, but if you want a phone which gives superior service for talking, this is a great phone.

4 out of 5 stars Love Everything but the Battery Life   June 12, 2008

Pretty much an amazing phone, with 2 exceptions. 1) When you answer the phone, the person on the other end never hears my hello (and im not a quiet person), so i either say it twice or wait a few seconds. its annoying the first few months but i dont even notice it anymore... 2) BATTERY LIFE SUCKS!!!!!!! I dont use my phone on a constant basis, but i have no power by the end of the day. I pretty much have to charge my phone every night so that it lasts all day. Its really really annoying. It just always dies on me.

Other than that its a great phone. I deal with these 2 issues because i really like the phone. Its pretty nice compared to other phones out there. Ive dropped it a bunch and its perfectly fine. I throw it in my packed purse and theres barely any scratches, fingerprints are noticeable though, but i dont mind....its one of my favorite phones...

2 out of 5 stars Pretty, but not practical   July 6, 2008

I have the red LG Shine phone and I do not like it at all. I am going to go back to my old Sony Ericsson. The Shine is pretty, but that is about it. It is not very practical to use. The navigation joystick is tiny and impossible to use, especially when texting. When you try to push it left or right, it is easy to accidentally push it down instead which often causes the text message you are writing to send before you are done with it. Another problem with texting I have had is that the phone fills in words for you that you have used in previous text messages and if you aren't looking at the screen while typing sometimes you end up with totally random words inserted into your message. The main problem I have with this phone is not being able to hear the people on the other end. On the low volume settings, it is too quiet, and when you turn it up louder, the conversation becomes louder, but muffled. I have to say 'What?' about every other sentence and my fiance gets very annoyed with me, but I can't do anything about it! I have also had trouble connecting the bluetooth to my Garmin Nuvi GPS and I didn't have any trouble connecting my old phone to it. I am not patient enough to deal with all these problems, especially not being able to hear what people are saying! I'm selling this phone and going back to my old one that I had no qualms with!!

4 out of 5 stars Good Phone Hard To Text   July 8, 2008

The phone is really neat, has lots of cool tools but if you are an avid texter it is a real struggle. The joystick is very sensitive and will send the text early if you are trying to space over so its kind of a pain.

3 out of 5 stars Hello..hello..ello..oo   July 13, 2008

Although the phone has several positive points, I wouldn't buy again. On the plus side the sound quality is very good when using the phone itself. It's very attractive looking, and it's loaded with great features all of which are easy enough to navigate through with the menu system. Now for the negatives: I've come to realize that it's not very compatible with my motorola bluetooth device. It connects fine and I can hear my party fine, but they consistently complain of an echo problem on their end. I have a friend who has the same bluetooth device and has no problem with it on his phone! A real dissapointment since the main reason I bought this phone was because it has voice recognition, thus giving me a true "hands-free" experience, or so I thought. The phone is not terribly easy to dial unless you have a small hand due to the design of the keypad. Lastly lets discuss the battery life. Yes, you have read it before in other reviews, so take it to heart. The battery life is quite disappointing. I can get maybe three days out of a charge if I seldom use the phone. Thats it. If I use it, it's considerably less. I can hardly wait to see how it will perform as the battery get old. Bottom line.... I feel I will be getting rid of this phone fairly soon.
