Disappointing BlueTooth Performance December 20, 2007 Karen V. (Manassas, VA United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
UPDATED 3/17/2008--I found that Palm has a new update that somewhat fixes the bluetooth problem I was having. I've completed the upgrade and even though I still drop connectivity, the bluetooth doesn't turn off and re-connects with the headset when I hit a service area. So far I've not had to pull off the road and perform resets or re-engage the bluetooth manually. UDATE COMPLETE I've been using this phone for the last 5 months and really like it when it works right. I've not had some of the problems others have, but I've certainly had them. I've had to perform a number of hard and soft resets on the phone after it started locking up and having application problems. I've since come to find out that you may have to do this from time-to-time when you get a software update. After getting everything straightened out after the resets, all seems to be working as it should for now. My reason for ranking this phone with only 3 stars is because I need to have consistent hands-free connectivity...Bluetooth. This phone constantly looses the Bluetooth connection. It's very annoying. I've found that every time I get into an area where there's no service, doesn't seem to matter how short a period of time, the Bluetooth will disengage itself and not re-link. I'll find out when I'm driving down the road and the phone rings, but my headset doesn't. Every single time, I have to pull off the road, turn on the blue tooth and re-establish a connection to my headset. It's definitely not the headset as I've tried a number of different makes and models and they all do the same thing. Right now I have the Aliph Jawbone (which I'm very happy with) and it still does the same thing. I've called Sprint and am told this is normal. I find that unacceptable for such an expensive item. I've had other phones that didn't have this problem. This is definitely a problem that needs to be looked into and fixed. If you're in an area that has good service, and you don't roam all over the country, I recommend this phone. I really think you'll be happy with it and it will work well for you. If you travel a lot and go in and out of service areas, you may want to consider something else. I travel extensively and rely on the hands free functionality so I'm frequently frustrated by the ever dropping Bluetooth.
A great Smartphone - know what you're buying March 29, 2008 Steve (Southern NH United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm surprised at some of the reviews here for this phone. I wonder if some people expect perfection, or don't know the best way to use the phone. I was given a new one (from a generous friend in the industry) so luckily it cost me nothing, but it was replacing a first generation Motorola Q that I would have paid to get rid of. THAT is a horrible smartphone. While I didn't pay for this 700wx, I certainly would have. With Windows Mobile, it easily connects to Exchange, and with the 1.22 Palm update and Audio Patch (a bit annoying to have to do, but very easy to install), the phone has been flawless. I searched high and low for a phone most people liked. It seemed there was no good solution, but I've had this about a week now, and have found it to be by far, the best smartphone I've had in terms of ease of use, performance, and erally great Palm upgrades and tweaks to the Windows Mobile OS, making it feel somewhat "blackberry like" when typing. I wonder if dome people are confusing the 700wx with the 700w or even the 700p (which has the Palm OS, not WM).
Treo gets the job done well December 15, 2007 Michael B. Aronson (Philadelphia Pa) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
First of all I should say that I have been a Treo user for three generations (300,600, 700) and Im not a big blackberry fan. I decided that it was time to switch from Palm OS to WM as I "live" on my exchange server. First for all its flaws, WM syncs flawlessly with Exchange and saves me a ton of time. I've never even connected to my laptop. I've also figured out how to save all my email attachments to my SD card and I just plop it into my laptop when I want a large screen to read or work on one of the attachements. Works the other way to for sending files.Like my other Treos, I've abused this one and I've had no hardware problems. I love the integrated Google search on the startup screen, must use it 50 times a day in meetings to look something up. Another nice thing is that Treo accessories are now available very inexpensively here and on other sites.
One of the best phones I've had so far. December 7, 2007 George-on-da-go (Bellingham, WA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
One of the things I like about this phone is the microsoft mobile programs. The ability to create and modify documents is a necessity. I've read that some of the other smart-phones aren't equipped to do the same. The Outlook program is a must if you are an on the go type. I like that I can syc all of my appointmentw from my pc to my phone. It needed a little adjustment before I could send emails through POP3 accounts. One of its only down falls is the stylus. I lost it once already. Other than that it's a great phone.
Worst device ever!! December 30, 2007 L. Katz 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am on my fifth Treo, my friend went through 8 before getting her new Blackberry. I am waiting to finish my service contract to get ANYTHING but a Treo. Be warned! The only good thing about it was that each time it froze, lost sound quality (which is poor to begin with) or erased date, Palm and Verizon were good about sending me a new one (although I would have preferred anything else.) The wx may be better but I am not even willing to risk it.
