I have not had any problems with this phone.I dont use it for long periods at a time ...only in the car and for text.Adding minutes is easy and i REALLY GET MY MONEYS WORTH WITH THE ROLLOVER.I averaged it at less than 10 bucks a month with 600 minutes to spare...so its great for me.I got better ringtones online and still waiting to see about wallpaper.Overall,I would recommend this phone if you dont need more than 100 minutes per week.
Frustrated and I don't even have service yet. June 15, 2007 Judy (San Francisco, CA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I spent weeks to find what I thought was the best plan for the money, sent away for the V171 (it was only 30 bucks through Net10) and waited. The first problem I encountered was them sending it Fedex with the signature required option. I work late and it took me a week to finally get to the Fedex warehouse to pick up the phone. My next challenge was to have my old number transferred. That was 10 days ago and nothing yet. I checked the website which said if the problem hadn't been resolved within 24-48 hours to call customer service. Since I live on the West coast, by the time I got home, they were closed. I finally got through to them today and all they would say was "it will be 24-48 hours" with absolutely no information on where the transfer process stood. As if the bad Net10 customer service isn't frustrating enough, the phone looses it's charge within 3 days when it's turned off and only lasts about a day when it's on. My old Virgin phone would last a week on one charge. Once they get my number transferred I get to find out how long it takes to actually activate the thing. Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for.
Is there really a person employed in customer service? July 25, 2007 C. Lupo (Onalaska, WA United States) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
First, Motorola makes a fine little phone. The problem is NET10 service, or serious lack there of. In a year of owning four family phones through NET10, I've yet to make an on line purchase with out having to call customer support. Get ready for the mother of all phone trees! After 15 minutes of push 1 for English 2 for .... you'll get a person who says "I apologize for any inconvenient you have been having" every time they answer or ask a question! Of course, if your not skilled in listening to broken English you may never understand what they say. Coverage is a real issue. NET10 likes to say they have the same coverage as any plan phone, but it just is not so. You'll find some serious holes in the service while my business plan phone is showing full strength signals. Is it a cheap way to go for a phone? Yes, but at a high cost of service and coverage. One Track Phone we have seems to be a little better, and you can buy more calendar time at a cheaper rate than NET10. Good luck, Your going to need it.
Worst Customer Service December 13, 2007 I love Amazon (USA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
They may have the cheapest rate, but you'll pay for it with the worst customer service on the planet. Just try and get the correct address to return your phone....good luck. Phone tree hell is more like it. Once you get there, the outsourcing to overseas operators who haven't a clue should just about kill anybody's patience. In case you need to return your phone, here is the correct address: Tracfone Return Center, Bright Point Reverse Logistics, 1251 Perry Rd, Plainfield, IN 46168. I'm sending my phone back today....I'll let you know if I ever receive my refund. Yikes, what a terrible company to deal with.....you are warned!!!
Not worth the price March 9, 2007 G-Man (Evansville, IN USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
My Motorola C139 with Net10 crashed on me. I called Net10 and they promptly sent me out a new phone, except they sent me this flip phone (V171). I liked my candy bar phone and didn't want this flip piece of junk. I was happy with Net10 service up to the point of my old phone failing, and then things quickly went downhill. Net10 would not transfer my number to the replacement phone, even though I had minutes available on the old phone. I gave my wife the V171 to use and took back from her our Cingular phone, which works awesome with no problems. She had problems all the time with the V171. She had to always type in the area codes for all numbers dialed, even the local numbers. She also had problems trying to dial a number and the phone would not dial after pressing all the numbers in the phone and hitting send. In my opinion, the V171 is completely worthless. Overall, I am a very dissatisfied customer. My recommendation is to stay away from this phone and this service. Go shop Cingular for all the great deals they have!
