Awesome Phone, Awesome Deal September 27, 2007 Ixstala (Pittsburgh, PA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This phone is amazing. If you need to renew a contract or sign a new one this deal can't be beat! I got the phone two days after placing the order on Amazon, not the 2-4 weeks as advertised. I won't repeat the admirable qualities of the phone here, other reviews do a good job, but there are three things to note. First the walkman logo on the front of the phone is AT&T not the sony W, the W is on the back however. Second, no memory card is included in this hardware package. Third, the branding on the phone disables the flash based menus and locks out other standard features such as mp3 ringtones over 600k, although there are ways around this you can end up breaking your phone if you're not careful. Also the battery cover is really hard to get off if you don't have finger nails, the best method is to use your index nails at the top sides of the cover and pull towards the bottom of the phone. Otherwise, perfect.
Very Fragile October 7, 2007 Robert R. Avila (Normal, Illinois) 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
I was really excited about getting this phone. But sad to say that i was really disappointed. Not with the options or any of the features. But with the durability. I got this phone and within a week the screen cracked from just being in my pocket. Amazon had great customer service and sent me another one within 2 days. And the same thing happened. I am not hard or rough on my phones. But this phone isn't built very well.
Mystery dialing October 23, 2007 C. Gunther (Salt Lake City, Utah USA) 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought this then returned it. Just try this test yourself: Slide the cover down to lock the phone, put the phone in a belt mounted holster, press the front of the holster three or four times. Now remove the phone and you will see that quite often it has unlocked and either accessed the internet, dialed someone from your address book, or is trying to send a text message. I liked the phone, but couldn't live with this.
a terrible error October 27, 2007 L. Hu (CA) 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
Buying this phone is a terrible error. My old Sony Ericsson W800 works great, so I chose this phone for an upgrade. But this phone has problem with the memory card slot. Sometimes, it shows there's no memory card in. After you plug out and plug in, it's ok. But after you do some operations, it's gone again. I got another one for replacement, the problem is still there. I visited ATT local store, the problem is still there...what a headache...I suspect this model has design defect...
Smaller then my last phone. November 4, 2007 rol_o (Bellaire, TX) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I recently purchased this phone as an upgrade to my Sony Ericsson s710a and have found a few things I wish the phone had or were different. My main reason to purchase the phone was for the walkman feature so I could ditch the MP3 player and the smaller size and weight. First off, there is no zoom for taking pictures, the zoom feature only works while taking videos. As stated earlier, there is no flash or light as well. The quality of the pictures are on par with my previous camera, the video is also typical. Second, the darn little "connect" button is a bit too easy to press accidentally and you may incur charges if you do not have a data plan on the phone and the only option would be to take off internet access completely from the phone, but you would sacrifice the ability to jump on the internet at all. As stated earlier reviews, the battery door is extremely hard to remove and requires quite a bit of effort. I wouldn't have put this point on, but I was trying to attach a strap that kept coming off, probably due to user error, which meant that I opened and closed that door far more than the average user may. The build quality is great and I have had no problems with the phone thus far and find the phone to be quite durable as well. I have dropped it several times without damaging the screen or functionality of the phone. I also have not had any problems with the "locked" feature of the phone unlocking and mystery dialing anyone. Obviously if you push the buttons on the front of the phone it is possible to unlock the phone and dial out but this has never happened to me. I keep the phone in a case attached to my belt or in my front pocket and have not had had any problems with the screen breaking. Lastly, if you are upgrading from a previous phone, swap sim cards and you are done. Great phone!
