3 out of 5 stars It's a good looking phone....   June 26, 2008

...but it definitely has some issues. I purchased one for my niece as an upgrade from AT&T. First off she was unable to get her SIM card recognized by the new phone and had to wait and go to the dealer. I thought maybe it was her, but I just got a Z9 and was able to pop my card in and go with no extra issues. Then she lost the first phone :( So I got another one through AT&T because I have the insurance (this is before I knew about Amazon...) I have the second phone sent straight to me and have been trying to get some music and stuff on it for her. And I don't know for sure if it is the USB cable, or the phone but I could not get music to transfer AT ALL. I had to purchase a memory card reader. (At this point I am also cussing my computer that has a supposed SD card slot that does not seem to work at all!) The memory card reader had no problems at all. Now, like I said, I just got a Z9, and was able to transfer music straight to my phone with nar an issue.

When I google, this seems to be a fairly common issue with the SD card and having the phone recognized by your computer. The best I can tell is that you will need to find the drivers on the net and download them and even still, it will be a hassle.

The other thing I notice is the little covers for the USB and SD seem very fragile. The phone is very attractive and somewhat sturdy but I could see it getting snapped in half easily to. The keys are fine to me, but the lip at the bottom is a bit annoying (the Z9 has no lip and otherwise looks about the same). It seems like a fairly good basic phone with some very nice features installed. I wish I has only paid a cent for it through Amazon though because otherwise it is not worth it!

I do like the little joystick....especially for playing the Ms Pacman demo ;)

Sooo

i got this phone 2 days ago

to replace the Lg Fusic that my padre ran over :p

so anyways

this phone is quite cool looking.

and the mp3 ringtones sound good,
but you can't record your own ringtones.

and you can't change the ones for new text messages and whatnot.

the camera is nice.

but the video recording can only record for 1 minute and 1 second before you have to press the button again.

joystick isn't that hard to use.

the buttons are small but that bugs me because my hands are big :p.

you can also browse through the rest of the phone while the media player is playing by minimizing it.

the vibrate is long, and loud, so i wouldn't recommend keeping it on vibrate if you go to school and use it in class.

oh it can also use .GIFs as wallpapers

...

but the ringtones and any noises you want to use that you put on the phone must be in mp3 form and 250kb or less.

or else it will say "File too large to be used as -insert noise thing here-"

and i think i mentioned this somewhere back there but you can't record your own.

so you will actually have to buy your ringtones unless you want a part of a song thats like 9-10 seconds that you have to like cut yourself.

the sound is clear when talking.

you can only select up to 10 people to send one text to at a time.

Sooo.

that's it.

out of 10 i'd give this phone a 7 or a 6

mostly because of the complicated ringtone thing

and the short videos

the LG Fusic i had before this had more features.

still this phone looks awesome :D.

but it's just unable to do stuff it should be able to do.

Ill start with the obvious, this phone looks amazing, youll have everyone asking, "what kinda phone is that". But besides that great feature, it plays mp3, u can organize songs by artist, album, playlist and so on, i recomend u get atleast a 1 gb micro sd, on my micro sd i can put mp4 videos and the phone will play them widescreen, the speakers are fair not too loud, it also has a bunch of great tools, amazing camera its alot better than most 2mp cameras, also records video, but offcourse all this stuff really eats the battery so if u like playing music and stuff ull be chargin ur phone like every 3 days but it jsut call people itll go almost a week without a charge.

2 out of 5 stars Nice phone with problems   May 23, 2008

I love this phone. It feels solid and well built thanks to its metal case. It withstands the abuse my wife gives it (3 broken phones before this one). And I love the slider ergonomics. One hand operation is very easy, easy to read screen, and simple phone use.

But, this phone has problems. The keys are tiny and not very suitable for texting. Too easy to press another key and often it feels like you pressed the key but it doesn't respond.

Bluetooth doesn't work at all. Doesn't connect to 2 laptops, 2 headsets, any of my coworkers phones, my mp3 player and worst of all it can't even connect to my wifes phone (which is the exact same phone).

Random power outs. For no good reason the phone simply shuts off.

Battery doesn't work funtionally. Have to recharge every 36 hours after 3 hours talking.
Screen cracked for no reason, and warranty doesn't cover. So what's warranty for?
Very disppointed. and would not buy any LG phone in the furture.
