Overall, great phone... December 7, 2007 Ian O'Handley (Portland, OR) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I have had my own Samsung Blast for a little over 4 months now and decided to read through some of the customer comments and reviews. The one that really jumped out at me was Sarabellum's comment stating that you can't switch from predictive text (T9)and when the phone is closed you can't operate it. These statements are completely false. The predictive text is extremely easy to turn off. You press the upper right hand button on the main keypad when creating a message. This will cycle you through the different text options. It is one of the easiest problems to fix. As an earlier cutomer pointed out, you can do many things while the phone is closed. You can make and answer calls, read text messages, play games, listen to music, check e-mail(if sign-in is saved in phone), etc. As a user of the phone, I have been very pleased with it. Sound quality is excellent, the new letter design which is set up like a comp. keyboard may take a bit to get used to but eventually works quite well, the camera is wonderful, memory space is just fine without a memory card (I have had the phone for 4 months and still have not bought a memory card. Overall it performs well and is great all around. Although I will agree that the battery could be a bit bigger or at least made to last longer.
Lots of background static noise August 12, 2007 Brandon Tower (Corvallis, OR) 11 out of 17 found this review helpful
I purchased the samsung blast phone the second day it came out and the first thing I noticed when I called someone is a lot of background static noise. The noise was constant and unpleasant. I exchanged the phone a day later for another one and the same problem existed. I am not sure if this is a product defect or what but I wanted to throw my two cents in on my experience with this phone. I hope everyone else has better luck with this phone. I am probably going to go with the blackberry pearl. cheers! I just found out that the static noise is only when the speaker volume is above level 4.
A Great Phone November 25, 2007 H. Ray (Chicago, IL USA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Pros- -mp3 -bluetooth -longer video time -easy use keyboard -1.2megapixel camera with special effects. Cons- -little memory* -The stupid thing that happens while texting when it thinks it knows what you are thinking. *Can be fixed by buying a microSD. can be found for around $8-$50+ depending on capacity. Great cell phone for teenagers. Easy to text with. Strong. Light. Large screen, a customizable button. I really like this phone.
Nice phone....needs some kinks worked out. August 27, 2007 S. Beynon (Pittsburgh, PA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
In answer to the woman who can't get off Predictive Text....the right soft key changes it. Hit it repeatedly to change to All Caps, Capitalize first word, 123, and the punctuation pages. The left soft key (under Options on text screen) allows you to change the font style and size. My complaints with the phone (I've sent back the first one already): I had a problem with Text Messages....some arrive at their destination, others do not. Very random. They all SAY they are sent, but about 1/3 of them never reached the intended party. Service on the phone seems to be very weak...I'm thinking the internal antenna isn't very powerful. I always had 4 - 5 bars of service with my Nokia phone at home, with the Blast I'm lucky if I have 1 or 2. Can't find an apostrophe anywhere in the punctuation (although there are about 5 pages of punctuation) and I use apostrophes a lot! You cannot dial a phone number that is given to you in words....for example 1-866-IDOLS 01 (or whatever!). With the QWERTY keypad (which is nice) those letters and numbers don't correspond correctly. It's a nice phone, good pictures and video, I just hope they work out some of the kinks. You probably shouldn't buy a phone the day it comes out!
good but not that good... December 3, 2007 M. Ebrahimi (San Antonio Tx) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
so i got this phone 3 wks ago after having 5-6 yrs of motorolas, so i keep going back to learn new things from the manual. YES the pretext thing is absolutely anonnying when it comes to texting. and i also dont think that it has as sensetive keys as my other phones, simply because when i'm texting really fast it takes a frac. of sec to recognize my lettering or like 3/4 of the time puts in the wrong letter, simply because i'm going too fast. the sound quality i think is fantastic, loud and clear. it has way more features than any other phone i had and it looks smooth. one thing i really want to know is that what is the double arrow >>| on the * key, didnt find it anywhere on manual. and to answer the apostrophe prob. your suposed to press Alt + L (2x). what i want to know though is how do you go about changing the soft keys on the main page, or cant you? but once you figure out all the little stuff and boost its memory its a good handy phone.
